The Only Way
If four people are on their way to California and decide to take different modes of transportation, car, plane, train, and bike, is what’s important that they all arrive at the same destination? This analogy has been used to argue that there are many paths to God. Who cares how you get to Him, or her, or it? The debate continues within Hindu, Buddhist, Islam, but Christianity has staked its claim on knowing the absolute truth. As soon as we believers defend our faith the world judges us. They believe we are arrogant for our beliefs in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Why should Jesus be the only way to God?
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6
Jesus destroys the cultural notion of religious pluralism by claiming and becoming the only way to God. He is the key that unlocks the door to our redemption and places us back in our Father’s arms. All paths to God are not legitimate, no matter how laced it is with deceptive peace and harmonious practices. About 70% of youth reject the idea of one true religion and there are even progressive Christians who deny that Jesus is the only way. That’s odd. As a follower of Christ how can you believe He isn’t who He claims to be?
“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12
It was always in the heart of God for Jesus to be the redemptive power that brings the world back to Him. This amazing love story has survived wars, political agendas, and time. Brought to us by the word of God, through uncorrupted bloodlines, and a virgin birth, the path to Calvary was no small feat. Over hundred prophecies were fulfilled by Jesus, proving to be our Savior. For a world in need of fact checking and credibility, Jesus stands in absolution! We believers don’t arrogantly claim to know the truth, we desperately and whole heartedly stand in it. There is no survival for us without Jesus! There is no eternity in love without Him.
“By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that[a] Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.” 1 John 4:2-3
Yup! That’s a mouthful! This doesn’t make it any less true. For those who reject the only path to God, Jesus, rejects the gift of salvation. We believers don’t condemn anyone to hell for not choosing Jesus, we don’t own a heaven or hell to put them in. When presented with a gift, it’s up to the receiver to reject it, one choice that has detrimental consequences: eternity without God. It’s inconceivably heart breaking to watch as the world runs to crystals, drugs, and horoscopes to find God. To be so undeniably deceived by the enemy of our souls and refuse to except the road to eternal life. When we see the world drowning it isn’t arrogance let's throw them a lifeline, and present to them a map that leads straight to God’s love.
