The Matipan Project
During our 50 days of Prayer, we went before the Lord asking for a home to call our own. This is the short story of how we found our home.
My husband Gerald and I have been living with family and friends for the past two and a half years with no place to truly call our own. My husband has disabilities which make our day to day living quite different from most people. Some of these challenges include not having sufficient funds to cover all our expenses.
I asked my sister about a property that I knew was vacant. My sister’s ex mother in law passed away a few years ago leaving a house. My sister asked her ex- husband’s family what their plans were for the house and proceeded to share our story with them.
Fast-forward a few months, the family contacted us and told us they all were in agreement to give us the house knowing that their parents would approve. Their parent’s raised them to be caring and sharing people.
Although free of charge, the house needs repairs and modifications to make it livable and accessible for my husband. Presently, we are living off of my husband, Gerald’s Social Security check and my part-time job which prevent us from acquiring the necessary repairs to move in. With the remodeling on this house, we hope to have a better quality of life than we have been living for the past couple of years.
We hope this home will bring our family back together under one roof. Our desire is to make this house a home for many years to come; a place where new memories can be made and shared for the rest of our lives. We are praying that this home will be a beacon of light in our neighborhood so that people will know that our home is where the Lord Jesus dwells.
During this whole process, we have been and will continue to give God all the glory, for it is He who has put such a wonderful project together. We are truly grateful for all of your help and for taking the time to read about us.
